Beyonc's New Song 'Texas Hold 'Em' Is HereListen Now
At long last, Renaissance: Act II has begun. And though we may have thought the visuals would match Renaissance's first chapter, Beyoncé has other ideas—more country ideas. And you know what? We're here for whatever the queen wants to give us. That includes her latest single, "Texas Hold 'Em," which dropped during the 2024 Super Bowl.
Co-produced by Raphael Saadiq, the country-fried tune reminds us a bit of "Daddy Lessons" from her iconic album Lemonade. Here's a snippet of the lyrics:
This ain't Texas (Oh)
Ain't no hold 'em (Hey)
So lay your cards down, down, down, down
So pop your Lexus (Ooh)
And throw your keys up (Hey)
Stick around,' round, 'round, 'round, 'round (Stick around)
And I'll be damned if I can't slow dance with you
Come pour some sugar on me honey, too
It's a real life boogie, and a real life hoedown
Don't be a bitch, come take it to the floor now (Woo)
Beyoncé made the surprise song announcement on Instagram, with a post featuring not just this song, but another called "16 Carriages." The second track is not on YouTube as of this post, but you can listen to on Spotify.
The song has the feeling of a more sweeping country epic, but still feels as country as "Texas Hold 'Em." (Think '90s Faith Hill, but Beyoncé.)
The new album is slated to be released on March 29th. If you need us before then, maybe, uh, don't? Because at this point, we're going to be spending the next however-many-days obsessing over every single detail Bey reveals about what's to come at the end of next month.
